World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) is celebrating their 20th anniversary this year and their Asia Pacific Network (APN) will be hosting a 6-month APN Festival starting from June to November with various themes for each month.
The Festival will kick-off with a 24-hour live event called ‘WorldGBC Net Zero Solutions around the World in 24 Hours’, commencing from 1st June 4PM SGT till 2nd June 4PM Singapore Time. Visitors around the world can tune-in to this event anytime during these 24 hours.
As the WorldGBC Regional Partner, AGC will be hosting a 1-hour session on 2 June 9-10AM SGT. This session is the opening session for the Asia Pacific Region. Click here to register.

Presentation Synopsis: Globally, over 50% of the population lives in urban areas today. By 2045, the world’s urban population will increase by 1.5 times to 6 billion. City leaders must move quickly to plan for growth and provide the basic services, infrastructure, and affordable housing to their expanding population needs. Therefore, the need to create energy efficient buildings and to adopt renewable energy has become all the more important. Building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) is the latest technology that could contribute to the increased adoption of renewable energy at the building scale. A BIPV system mainly consists of a laminated safety glass with embedded solar cells integrated into the building envelope. BIPV could be integrated into the façade or the roof of the building envelope; also harvesting solar energy.
Integrating photovoltaics into the building envelope can provide savings in materials as well as maximizing the area for PV deployment and hence reducing electricity costs. BIPV also reduces the consumption of fossil fuels and carbon emissions thereby providing a sustainable solution to the building. To accelerate the adoption of BIPV, AGC will present the keys to make it happen in Super Low Energy Buildings through case study takeaways.
