Bridges

A well-used structure like a bridge should always be built with high quality materials, from the materials that are used to form the bridge structure to the coatings that are used on the completed bridge’s surface.

An especially important step in bridge building is the surface coating application. An excellent coating system is one that offers durability, weatherability, along with colour and gloss retention. Bridges are constantly exposed to the elements. Without proper surface coatings, UV radiation, moisture and salt can compromise the structural integrity of a bridge. Without proper maintenance, coatings will start to degrade in the forms of fading, chalking before they eventually fail. Some bridges experience heavy traffic, so it is not practical to temporarily close them to carry out maintenance works.

Lumiflon™ based coating offers a much longer service life and remains in pristine condition despite prolonged exposure to the elements. This reduces total maintenance cost of the bridge and contributes to lowering of the bridge’s Life Cycle Cost (LCC). For completed bridges that are not using Lumiflon™ based coating, it is possible to apply the coating on-site in specific cases.
