AGC in Stadiums
Fluon™ ETFE Film is a high-performance fluoropolymer film manufactured by AGC from its own raw material. It has excellent properties making it an ideal material for many applications such as the architectural envelope, solar cells, electronics etc. Due to its flexibility and high transparency, the use of ETFE Film has infinite possibilities and is the choice of architects to solve complex design problems.
In architectural applications, ETFE film is applied as a building envelope material due to its exceptional transparency, design flexibility, and low maintenance costs. ETFE film has high light transmittance, which gives depth to space. Due to its lightweight characteristic, it can span longer with less structure. This provides the occupant with more space in the same volume.
Fluon™ ETFE film offers design flexibility in a variety of ways. As a flexible material, it can conform to different shapes and curves, giving the architects a wider canvas for creative expressions. The transparency of the film is adjustable to achieve different effects. A fully transparent film will aid indoor plant growth, while a translucent film can light up uniformly with an LED underneath. In fact, integrating lighting into the ETFE cushion is a widely adopted feature that gives different realms of expression to the architecture it embodies while also making it more attractive at night. The film is also available in limited colours that add to its design flexibility.
Multiple pieces of Fluon™ ETFE Film can be layered together to improve the thermal insulation. Low-e prints can be printed in a variety of patterns on the film to adjust the shading coefficient to the desired range and achieve thermal comfort. Fluon™ ETFE film has good properties of chemical resistance and non-adhesiveness. These make the film structure easy to maintain. The heat resistance of Fluon™ ETFE makes it a fire-safe material. It will not catch fire nor will it propagate flames. Fluon™ ETFE film is a widely adopted material and a growing trend in architecture given its exceptional quality to integrate different benefits to the built environment.
